The Complete Insiders Guide to Associate & Affiliate Programs
Published in Spiral-bound by ADNet International (15 October, 1998)
Author: Declan Dunn
Average review score:

Good Start for Affiliate Selling
To get a good start on all the basic business concepts for how to establish a network of affiliates to sell your product through the internet, this loose leaf binder (with a tape inside) isn't too bad. It pulls together in one place the information that it would take a lot of searching on the web to pull out.

However, because the author also runs one of the affiliate web sites, he is very light on talking about the services that are competitive to his AdNet business. (AdNet is the publisher of the book.) The case histories he discusses are somewhat detailed -- but they are OLD -- from 1998 or so, and the world has changed since then. Also the companies' write ups have the feel of the clients from his firm, so they are not particularly sharply written or edited.

great guide
This is great book on how to set up affiliate programs. It really goes in depth & walks you through in a step by step manner. Whether you are a novice or a pro on the web, this book will definately help you create, manage, and improve your affiliate program.

Cybershops

Authors: Claudia Gerdes and Jutta Nachtwey
Average review score:

great pictures for design ideas
Great screen shots and descriptions of marketing and business plans of some of the more well known or creative ecommerce sites.

Definitely a book compiled by graphic designers and not programmers it is a "cool" book to look through, get ideas from, and read.

Make sure to keep in mind that some of the sites they cite as the best and most innovative have already gone under, and the book was published this year.

A good book to read critically and for ideas.

E-Business : Thriving in the Electronic Marketplace
Published in Paperback by 29th Street Pr (January, 2000)
Author: Nahid Jilovec
Average review score:

Interesting title
It only talks about marketplaces, but that is quite ok

For the business perspective
While this may not touch the hearts of the techies, it provides an excellent perspective on the possibilities and potential in e-business. Good examples and supports the reality that the future is still here, regardless of the dot-bomb failures of the past year.

E-Business Intelligence: Turning Information Into Knowledge and Knowledge Into Profit
Published in Digital by McGraw-Hill ()
Authors: Bernard Liautaud and Mark Hammond
Average review score:

A good map
This is a well written, insightful look at the big picture of how organizations can harness their data and information to create intelligence. Anyone interested in creating a learning organization needs to read this book for practical ideas on how to implement a solid strategy.

Focussed view on business intelligence in the internet age
Liautaud's book provides a solid view of the challenges organizations have to face in the internet age and how to tackle them. Think of the enormous data volumes on the one hand and the need to provide the business with instanteneous information and knowledge on which they can act. Solving this problem is complex, but Liautaud succeeds in explaining how all issues work together.

What also becomes crystal clear is that we are only at the beginning of what business intelligence can and should be. The greater part of time spend on BI is spend on massaging the data into information. It should be spend on defining actions. Developments in CRM, supply chain management and e-business drive developments in data mining, data warehouses and extranets. What is needed to put it all together is a comprehensive view on BI and a dedicated focus on the BI function. Who still doubts this should definitely read this book!

e-PR: The Essential Guide to Online Business Communication
Published in Paperback by Kogan Page Ltd. (01 February, 2001)
Author: Matt Haig
Average review score:

Useful
This book was incredibly useful when I found myself at a loss on how to promote my own business. e-PR showed me how to effectively use the internet to gain publicity and find the right avenues of promotion. I found this book to be second only to Guerilla PR Wired by Michael Levine.

A Powerful Compendium of Advice
e-PR strives to prove not just the usefulness but the importance of having effective public relations online. Haig deals with the usual questions that would be asked, such as how to have a website that's distinct from the one billion other websites, and how to make sure people keep visiting said site. He also explores how to deal with the media, both offline media using online methods, and online media using (unsurprisingly) online methods. In that, he shares much in common with Michael Levine in Guerrilla PR: Wired, whose writing style was a bit easier to digest.

Haig also explores how e-PR fits into marketing. Essentially, PR, either e- or otherwise, does not operate in a vacuum. Haig knows that well and his book devotes considerable space to explaining that topic. He uses a friendly how-to style to make his points and provide valuable advice in an area that is still emerging.

Frommer's Born to Shop Caribbean Ports of Call
Published in Paperback by Hungry Minds, Inc (07 August, 1997)
Authors: Frommers and Suzy Gershman
Average review score:

Not up to date
Although this was a pretty good book, I wish I had paid attention to the publishing date (1997). Some of the information is not as accurate now as it was 4 years ago. For example, some of the vendors mentioned in San Juan, Puerto Rico (from where I returned just yesterday) are no longer there. This books needs an updated edition!

Very accurate and full of usefull information!
This book is guided towards the cruise passanges but also provides information for those staying on the islands. You can plan ahead with this book. I found great information and plenty of down to earth reading. Don't forget to take this book along during your stay in the Caribbean!

FULL SERVICE BANK
Published in Paperback by Pocket Books (March, 1993)
Author: James Adams
Average review score:

BCCI's a thrilling book
When I first purchased "A Full Service Bank: How BCCI..." I was thinking that it is a long boring book, but when I started to read it I was amazed on what BCCI actually pulled off and how they did such things. The governments and banking systems in other countries also intrigued me. "A Full Service Bank" is an exciting book that keeps the reader engaged for a long amount of time and keeps them interested. When you are done reading this novel you should feel a sense of knowledge. I suggest "A full Service Bank" to anyone interested in the banking industry or interested in a great book about scandles andn banks.

A great account of what happened.
This is a good read, very educational on Middle-Eastern and Southeast Asian business practises. Instead of all that garbage they teach at business schools regarding international commerce, they should provide books such as this one as required reading.

This is how things really happen. It details innumerable 'behind-the-scenes' business deals. Provides a great insight to the anatomy of shady international banking deals, not to mention arms deals, drug trafficking and money laundering.

I know some of the people mentioned in this book and it is spot-on with its descriptions of them. This book may be a little out of date but its a worthy read and will be for years to come.

Handbook of Technical Analysis: A Comprehensive Guide to Analytical Methods, Trading Systems and Technical Indicators
Published in Hardcover by McGraw-Hill Trade (01 November, 1994)
Authors: Darrel R. Jobman and Darrell R. Jobman
Average review score:

elementary, but competent
Pretty nicely done, but a better title would have been "Handbook of BEGINNING Technical Analysis." I wouldn't call it comprehensive. More like a mile wide and a few inches deep. But if that's what you need this is a nice book.

"exceptional book covering the technical gamut"-Tom DeMark
Darrel Jobman has captured the essence of various market timing methods. In simplistic terms he describes the key elements and components of many technical methods. His depth of understanding and his unique ability to present the material is apparent from the first page of the book. For beginner, intermediate, and advanced students of technical anlysis alike, this book is a "must read".

Internet Auctions For Dummies®

Author: Greg Holden
Average review score:

Enjoyable, Educational and Pretty Dang Entertaining
This book is not a dry read! It's pretty engaging. I had never considered the psychology of the auctioner/auctionee - and this guy has captured the online (and live, in-person) auction dynamic and describes it pretty thoroughly (the CD software's nice, too: there are a couple CGI scipts you can use that are documented nicely, along with some .exe's that look fairly easy to cope with). Good insight into the pitfalls that the auction newbie (me) should beware of (what kind of payments to take, make sure service is plenty dang fast, follow up on questions, deal with reputable people, be prompt with payment when buying, etc.) and again, the writer covers not just online auctioning but the live kind. Fascinating. A good read, the kind you can pick up and get something new from each time.

Internet Entrepreneurs
Published in Paperback by Financial Times Prentice Hall (27 September, 2000)
Authors: Christopher Price and Chris Price
Average review score:

lessons from the real pioneers
as more and more internet start-ups look more and more opportunistic and driven by the lure of an early IPO, it's good to get the lowdown fromn the first generation of internet entrepreneurs - the guys who had a big idea. Jeff Bezos, Jerry Yang, Bob Davis....all refreshingly frank here about how they made it. Genuine pioneers. Will we see their like again?

Fast Review on Internet Giants' Insights
I am seeking a book to inform me how those Internet experts can generate ideas and how can they manage, develop and maintain their business and brand in this competitive Internet world. I do believe that this is book is for you if you would like to target for this aim. As a developer, I deem I need to take an insight how to implement my ideas, how to model it and turn it to be a reality. More importantly, you will understand more on the business and customer edges, how to understand your clients' needs instead of being crazy on the technologies.

This book tells me, technology is important, but management and business development is much more crucial what ever you are working in IT industry or not.
